Revelations, owning the authentic self.

As we approach, or hurtle towards the exact alignment of the Grand Cardinal Square, I am constantly reminded, both in my work and in my dealings with family, friends and associates, how connected we are to that great web of potentials and possibilities, that is the Universe. Or perhaps you perceive that field as God, Great Spirit, The Almighty etc.. however you choose to identify with it, the amazing amount of synchronicity that occurs when you acknowledge its existence in your life is quite mind blowing. My work as a Psychic, Astrologer and Tarot reader often allows me the privilege of introducing the concept of the Field of Potential to my clients, some of whom have never really considered that they have a controlling stake in their own lives, and many who believe that they are at the mercy of circumstance.

This morning I read a very interesting post on a page by fellow Astrologer Carole Young. The basis of which was the unrelenting and often superficial nature of positivity within the so called “spiritual” fraternity. Interestingly, this is a conversation I’ve been having with a number of people, and it relates to the amount of untruths, lies and deceptions that are being revealed right now, under the auspices of the Grand Cardinal Square.  In a situation I personally know of, a man has been revealed as a total fantasist, and has been decloaked in a rather spectacular fashion. His secret Plutonian underbelly as been exposed by a lazer lightening strike from Uranus, splitting his world apart. The Tower card of the Tarot is a perfect reflection of this kind of circumstance, and is, of course, ruled by Uranus. The extent to which the threads of his lies have affected others, may well be widespread. The point is, none of us can live under falsehoods any longer. The push towards authenticity and embracing the totality of all we are, warts and all, is irresistible. Pluto’s inner stirrings will gestate and will bring about massive changes. Uranus will provide the sudden slash to the belly, to reveal our innards, the very guts of our being in all its reality and shocking detail. This is also the case on a Global scale, as manipulation of the masses through lies and misinformation via the mainstream media will be seen for just what it is. There is also another character involved in this unfolding situation, and that is the great planet Saturn. Saturn is stationed in Scorpio right now, and he is the task master, the tough mentor, pushing us to take part in our our forensic examination of our reality, our beliefs and our honest naked selves. Scorpio ruled by Pluto, but before the discovery of Pluto, ruled by Mars (who is incidentally, another participator in the Cardinal Grand Square,) is the pathologist par excellence. The detective who is like a terrier with a bone, a relentless seeker of the truth. Wherever Saturn is transiting your chart right now, will be where the focus of your search will be.

Ultimately, the message is one of taking total responsibility for ourselves. The shadow is as much a part of our psyches as our joy is. The conversation you have with that part of yourself, the part of you that you would rather disown and lock away, will be had, unless you are prepared to live a half life, looking behind you, or cringing in guilt at your perception of the unforgivable you. Forgive yourself. Move on, and the big massive motivators of the Grand Cardinal Square will inspire you to be all you can be.

Awakening is certainly confusing, and enlightenment is not all angelic choirs and a pat on the back for being so very “good” it is above all a process and a journey of epic proportions. But know that the very kernel of progress is to be our authentic selves, to help and support others on their paths towards truth and meaning. We cannot do it for them, but we can certainly help and be there to validate their efforts, and our own.

At this time of amazing challenges and upheaval, my door is always open to those who would like to explore their journey through the Stars and the Cards. Please feel free to contact me via my email address.

From Zero To Hero And Back Again: Musings on the Fool in the Tarot.

Traditionally, the Fool is depicted as a vagabond, a wandering and gullible figure, carelessly about to step off a cliff edge. with naught but a bundle on a stick, and a snapping dog at his/her heels. As ever the picture is not the whole story, but it is the trigger, or the entry point, for many tales of the Fool and his emergence into the world. He is the First card in the Major Arkana, yet he is numbered “0” and that is the prime mystery, right there. The Fool is creating something, from nothing. Bringing the breath of spirit into human form, as indeed The Fool is “The Spirit of Aether,” represented by the element of Air. With no experience of life to base anything on, The Fool is either courageous or amazingly “foolish” You can either perceive him/her as an enfant sauvage, wild and untameable or envy The Fools lack of inhibition and conditioning by social mores and structures. Perhaps he is the kernel of our authentic selves, unsullied by learned habits and behaviours, untutored by social hierarchy. But, to this world he is indeed born, and so the Fool has to learn to survive within it, adapt and absorb and observe the protocol that furthers our knowledge of what it is to be a Spirit experiencing a human existence. To me, what he possess that we loose at our peril, is our intuitive selves, our default position, that eternal connection to all that is, the essence of soul. He/she relates to many figures in myth and many cultures; we can associate him with the Green Man, a burgeoning rising of sap in the Spring, of Parsifal the pure in the Grail quests, perhaps even the Greek dionysus. But we need to see the Fool as ourselves, the seeker, the journeyman the pioneer and adventurer. The Fool is unaware of limitations, and is often irrational when encountering what he sees as unnecessary obstacles, but when faced with repeated situations where he/she cannot make progress, some more subtle methods or angles will be looked at. The Fool takes us from toddler through to old age, his watersheds are the other 20 cards of the Major Arkana, so wherever you find yourself, you are always “The Fool”, because there is never a moment when you cannot learn something about yourself. The Fool is pure potential, and as such, trusts that when he/she leaps off the cliff, he/she will be upheld by nature, or will find that the leap was an illusion, and that the abyss was but a footstep below. The Fool will not make a mountain out of a mole hill, or beat himself to death over perceived mistakes, or “wrong” decisions, and that is the greatest lesson when The Fool appears in your cards, learn, bless, and then move on. Know that by living in the moment you are in exactly the right place to receive all the lessons you need to continue your journey, all the tools you need have been given to you in the guise of the challenges and situations you have lived through and learned from. If you are embarking on a new venture, be assured The Fool asks you to believe in your own abilities, that you have come far enough along the path to exercise some intuitive wisdom, and trust your guts when it comes to people and opportunities. Above all, bring with you an open mind and sense of freedom, listen and observe. The Fool has yet to experience Judgement, so weigh each person, event and opportunity on its own merits, in as unbiased an attitude as possible. When The Fool appears negatively aspected, it could be a certain irrationality has crept into your thinking. Your decisions are clouded by personal issues, or even animosity. Your ability to let things flow has become stymied by worry or anxiety. Perhaps you are having a problem releasing the past, so cannot progress on to your desired destination. Time to strip yourself back down to your components, be very honest with yourself and have a look at the shadow that’s needed your attention, and address it, with love, then bless it and allow it to leave. You may have to do this a few times, before you feel you have “put it to bed.” The Fool reminds us to be as a child, to have fun and to engage in joyful pursuits, to be open to new adventures, and not to be paralyzed by fear; whether that is physical, emotional, mental or physical. If we are fearful, we must examine why and where thats coming from, because we need joy, love and spontaneity to live out our full potential on this Planet. The Fool is ultimately, very wise indeed. Knowing when to utilize his/her gifts when presented to you in a reading, is one of The Fools keys, another is always to remain mindful that we are all connected to the Earth and all the wonders of nature, The Fool knows of no distinction, after all.

NEW YEAR, NEW MOON

As the end of the calendar year approaches, many of us will be looking back at the many challenges and situations we have had to face in the previous twelve months. Times of joy, achievement and success, but also times of loss, pain and sorrow. For most of us it has been a huge struggle to make our commitments and provide for our families. On the World stage we find ourselves at the mercy of our Governments and of Nature, or so it would seem. Planet Earth is undergoing a profound transformation, and as we are her children, so are we. So, how best to manage the process of change, and can we use our own will and potentials to forge a better future for us and humanity? Thankfully, we are privy to many tools and advice on how to use them. Positivity is foremost in the kit, and I’m not talking about the blind unrealistic kind that is basically denial. Having a look at your reactions, standing back and being our own observer, noticing that we could perhaps have managed that a bit differently, being less critical. On the subject of criticism, also be kinder to yourself, on noticing your negativity, don’t give yourself a hard time, let it go. If you need to say sorry, do so sincerely, then get back on your bike and pedal on! On New years day we greet 2014 with the first New Moon of the year, and an active T square formation in powerful Cardinal signs, and Uranus will Square Pluto. Can we also use the power of our own astrology to navigate our way through the years events, can we ride the wave, as lovely Astrologer Lyn Birkbeck would say, or will we struggle and fall? In my opinion, its about how we react to any given situation, and employing as many help methods as we need to support our progress and infer meaning to our time as citizens of planet Earth.  I send you all blessings and courage in this coming 2014, may it be an awakening and illuminating time for you, and may you thrive and prosper in all aspects of your life.

As the old saying goes, “Be humble, for you are made of the Earth, Be noble for you are made of the Stars”
